Legends of Gaia is a Table-Talk Roleplaying game about creating dynamic action heroes who go from rat-catchers to demigods

Main Goal: Create a modular game that has interconnected systems that allows the GM to have every tool they could possibly need to run any type of fantasy campaign from bottom-feeding rat catchers to epic heroes and everything in between, with a key focus on strategic combat and meaningful choices made regularly.

Additional Goals

• Strategic Combat for All: Tired of doing the exact same optimal series of events any time you face a threat? Maybe you picked a martial swordsman because you're new to TTRPG's and didn't realize 'I attack with my weapon' would be all you're doing. Legends of Gaia gives even the simplest character important choices to make during combat, putting an emphasis on planning, positioning, and spending action resources. 

•   Modular optional rules: The game feel changes as players level up. At early levels, few players will be thinking of enchanting, magic resource management, ways to spend tons of gold, and other high level or resource intensive game tasks. However low-level players are more likely to need rules for traveling by caravan, tracking rations and encumbrance, and more precise resource tracking on things like ammunition. As the characters level up they will gain abilities that reduce the need for some systems, while increased levels and wealth will naturally introduce new systems and change how the game feels as characters progress.

• Make the GM's life as easy as possible: One of the reasons for the huge toolbox of optional rules is for the GM. all rules are interpreted and enforced to different levels at each table, and the more options the GM has to work with, the less strain is on them to create brand new rules and systems. Exciting random tables, tools for adventure building, town-building, location-building, dungeon-building, and more will allow your GM to run the type of adventure they want to the best of their abilities.

• Player-friendly rulebook: Create a rulebook filled with charts, graphs, and examples. The rulebook should be a clear and easy reference to find anything the player is looking for quickly. Character creation is complex, so creating a character should feel like they are making a series of discoveries that string the player along through the whole section.

• Minimal at-table math: Don't get me wrong. This system is not rules light. But the majority of the intensity and complexity and depth come from character creation and level-up choices. This means at-table play isn't slowed down any more than a medium crunch game.

• Unique Inclusive World: Gaia is both a unique fantasy setting with its own deep lore and history, as well as a kitchen-sink fantasy setting with all the fantasy basics and tropes players will expect, often with a fun Gaian twist. Players should be able to easily bring in creations from other games and have no trouble coming up with unique and varied adventures on their own version of Gaia.
